Love me some banh mi so I was excited this spot out. Got the chicken banh mi with added avocado it was pretty good had good portions and the bread was crisp yet soft. Unfortunately some of the chicken was pretty dry which is why I knocked a star off other than that will try again when I'm in the area!

Kibi's is a great casual dinning or take-out option in the Theatre District of Orinda. Their bahn mi and summer rolls are very tasty, with lots of vegetarian and vegan options. I've thought their soups were alright (if a bit underwhelming), but was disappointed by how much disposable plastic waste they use to serve the soups to you, even if you opt to eat in, (not very eco-friendly, and off-putting to eat boiling hot soups out of single use soft plastic take-out bowls). While it's a small venue with only about 3 or 4 tables inside to sit at, it's clean and nicely decorated in a modern way. Service is excellent.

I haven't been able to find delicious, authentic banh mi since I moved here last year. Thank you Kibi's cafe for fixing my cravings. We'll be back soon.

I stopped by this little Vietnamese cafe on my home, and it didn't disappoint. They have some cozy seats inside to sit and enjoy a quick bite. The chicken bang mi was perfect--the bread was crispy on the outside but soft inside, the filling was fresh and flavorful, and everything just came together so well. I usually I order a small side of broth to sip with my banh mi- It keeps the sandwich from feeling dry and adds a warm, comforting touch to the meal. The staff was super friendly, and you can tell they care about the food they're serving. I'll 100% be back. This place is a gem.

- bread was not toasted - tofu was flavorful - veggies tasted fresh - sandwich/bread was not dry Service was quick, ordered, and ate within 10-15 minutes. A cute little quick bite. Would go again and try the pho or a roll.

Expect quick and friendly service. They keep their prices in check - depending on appetite, you can fill up for around $10-15. The spices and flavor are a great mix of savory and sweet. Everything is fresh. The space is small and there are about 4 or so small tables inside, but it is tight! There is also 4 small tables outside, but it is often cold, dress warm. I haven't tried anything on the menu that isn't great - although sometimes the poached chicken is a bit tough. The chicken on the sandwich is tender, but some of he poached chicken is a tad dry.

Ordered three banh mi made to order with grilled pork on a baguette with pickled carrots, daikon abd cucumber. Skipped the jalapeño peppers. A little bland without the aioli/pate spread Three tables indoors and 5-6 outdoor tables in front of the cafe. Bun (noodle bowls) and spring rolls sold here too.

This place is tucked away amongst many other restaurants which are all so cute. They offer very little indoor seating and have some spaces outdoors too. Probably not best for groups. The menu offers many Vietnamese food items that are authentic and tasty. I tried a chicken noodle salad today and it was super delicious! Especially because I don't really like salads. But this was the perfect, flavorful, light, and healthy lunch option. The service was all at the counter and not to the table. The gals working the front were friendly.

I was stuck in the 90s for a while where you could go to Oakland Chinatown and get a bahn mi for $2.75, so was shocked when everywhere started charging $8 for them. Finally, I accepted that we're now in the year 2023 and inflation is real. That being said, the bahn mis at kibis are delicious here. Got 1 grilled pork and 1 spiced pork. While they are kinda short and narrow as others mentioned, I feel like they were still thick and a good amount of meat. The bahn mis here taste authentic, and I'm so glad to have this as an option nearby considering we're in a very...bland area.
